This food is famous and traditional in the south, they serve it with butter milk coleslaw, and hush puppies.
Ingredients list:
- Half cup of butter milk.
- Half cup of water.
- Pepper and salt to taste.
- One pound of catfish fillets cutted as strips.
- One cup and half cup of fine cornmeal.
- Half cup of all purpose flour.
- One teaspoon seasoning of seafood, as old bay.
- One quarter of the vegetable oil for frying deeply.
Preparing Method:
- In a small mixing bowl combine water with butter milk, and salt with pepper. Then mix every thing together, after that, bring any flat dish you have and put the fish fillets side by side with the mixture and let them marinate.
- Next step is to combine dry ingredients, mix cornmeal and flour with the seasoning, then replace this mixture into a big bag and add fish inside the bag with the dry mixture, and shake it carefully until get sure that each piece is well covered.
- Turn on the heat into 365 F, then fry the fish fillets for about 3 minutes, or until golden color.
- If you have small frying pan, fry two by two, or as desired, just to avoid the adhesion.
- Remove the catfish fillets and drain them out on paper towels.
