Over time, we’ve made many sausage recipes, but we realized we didn’t have the most basic one: pan-fried sausage! How could we not write the recipe that has always saved our lunches and quick dinners? Simple to make, fast, and appetizing, pan-fried sausage only requires one thing: high-quality sausage. To make this dish even more special, we suggest a blend of herbs and seasonings that will make you appreciate this meat-based second course even more. You can also make the classic sausage and potatoes dish in a pan instead of baking it! If you're short on time for the more elaborate versions, like Sausage and Beer Potatoes or oven-baked options, or with beans, in a sauce, or with greens, pan-fried sausage is a great alternative!
Preparation
How to Prepare Pan-Fried Sausage
To prepare pan-fried sausage, start by separating the sausages if they are tied together with string. Crush a peeled garlic clove with the flat side of a knife and move to the stove. In a pan, pour a little oil, place the sausages, and add the garlic, along with a sprig of rosemary and a bay leaf. Let them sizzle on high heat for about 10 minutes, turning them once they have browned a bit on each side.
Remove the herbs, lower the heat, and cover the pan with a lid. Let the sausages cook for another 10 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally. Your pan-fried sausages are now ready to be enjoyed hot, garnished with fresh herbs. Bon appetit!
Storage
We recommend eating the pan-fried sausages immediately, but you can store them in the refrigerator for a couple of days, keeping them in an airtight container.
Tip
To avoid a bitter taste, make sure the herbs don’t burn or stay in the pan for too long. You can also just flavor the oil and remove the herbs before cooking the meat.
