Fried Chicken with Crispy Crust Recipe

No matter what we say, sometimes you just need a solid portion of fried chicken with a crispy crust.

There are rare occasions when we allow ourselves to "stray" from the path of lighter food while dining out, and with a little guilt, we indulge in the world-famous KFC fried chicken. Let's not kid ourselves—when it comes to fried chicken with a crispy crust, that's the go-to spot.

In my quest to prepare most of our meals at home, I searched online to find a recipe for flavorful fried chicken with a crispy crust, or more specifically, I was looking for the KFC marinade recipe and the exact frying method.

I came across quite a few recipes and decided to try an American one.

Well, my breaded chicken drumsticks passed the family test and were unanimously approved.

So, I decided to write down the recipe for fried chicken with a crispy crust and share it with you so you can enjoy it too.

I'm adding this recipe to my favorite chicken dishes.

Ingredients

For the marinade:

  • 500 g chicken wings
  • 200 ml water
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Black pepper
  • Chili

For the breading:

  • 500 g flour
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • A pinch of chili
  • Oil for frying

Steps to Prepare

  1. Take a tray or a suitable dish in which to mix the water, oil, and spices.
  2. If you want spicy wings, increase the chili amount to 2 tsp.
  3. Clean and wash the chicken wings.
  4. Separate them into drumettes and wings.
  5. Arrange the chicken in the marinade.
  6. Place them in the fridge for 24 hours.
  7. Take a deep bowl and add the flour, salt, pepper, and if you desire a spicy taste, add more chili.
  8. Mix the dry ingredients well.
  9. Thoroughly coat the chicken in the breading mixture and place it in a colander.
  10. Fill a deep container with cold water.
  11. Submerge the colander with the chicken in the water.
  12. Remove it and coat it again in the breading mixture.
  13. Arrange in a dry dish.
  14. Warm the oil and cook the chicken until it turns a golden brown color.
  15. I fried them in batches of two to three pieces for about 10-15 minutes.
  16. Place the fried chicken on paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
